Tang Sai-cheong

Founder and Artistic Director of Black Bird Theatre (Hong Kong & UK).

Graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, School of Drama, in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours), majoring in Acting. In 2017, Tang received a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from the same institution. His play Three Brothers was nominated for Best Script at the 26th Hong Kong Drama Awards, while his performance in The Next Second I Hate You earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2022-2025, He was a doctoral candidate in the Department of Theatre Arts at the Taipei National University of the Arts.

From 2006 to 2011, he taught year-long drama workshops in primary and secondary schools, directing final performances. He served as adjudicator for the Hong Kong School Drama Festival (2007–09, 2012–13). Since 2011, he has run Black Bird Theatre’s Routine Drama Workshops, offering weekly classes for students ranging from secondary school to tertiary level and working adults. In 2021, he launched Black Bird Online Classes, teaching playwriting, script analysis, and performance theory.

He is currently active as a theatre playwright, dramaturg, director, actor and drama educator.
